Arriva bus order for 2015
Courtesy of busandcoachweek.com I have seen the bus order for Arriva in 2015-16 as below. What is significant is more Enviro 400s for the North West, again displacing modern single-deckers, presumably Pulsar 2s, elsewhere. Alexander Dennis has won the major share of Arriva’s latest fleet order including 100 per cent of the double-deck order of 165 buses. Arriva announced an investment programme worth more than £45million with Wrightbus also gaining a significant share and Optare winning an order for six Solos. In total, ADL will be supplying 165 Enviro400 double-decks and 16 of the new Enviro200 single-decks. Wrightbus is supplying 50 StreetLites. The first 62 Enviro400s - Euro 5s - will go into service across Arriva’s north west network and will feature free wi-fi, e-leather seating and CCTV. The deployment in the region is designed to increase capacity and the vehicles will replace a number of one- and two-year-old single-deck buses for refurbishment and redeployment elsewhere across the network in the midlands, south east and north east. A further 47 Enviro400s will enter service in the north west in the latter half of the year. In the autumn, Arriva will launch six premium Sapphire and two interurban express MAX routes with a further 56 Euro 6 Enviro400s. “Since its launch, Sapphire has exceeded our expectations in terms of both patronage and revenue, and plays a pivotal role in our ongoing investment strategy,” says Mark Yexley, operations and commercial director for Arriva UK Bus. “As Sapphire continues to perform well across all the routes on which it operates, we feel that both refreshing the existing fleet as well as instigating further launches will serve as an extra incentive to passengers demanding something a little different from their transport providers. “The Enviro400s have already performed well where previously introduced by Arriva, thanks to their excellent low-weight, robust designs and powerful, economic six-cylinder Cummins EEV engines which deliver reliable low carbon emissions. We have invested nearly £500million into fleet renewal since 2008 and with the introduction of these new buses, along with the other vehicles we’re procuring this year, we are clearly highlighting our commitment to both tackling the environmental challenges we face as a transport provider in the 21st century, whilst ensuring our customers can enjoy efficient, affordable transport.” A further 28 Euro 5 Wrightbus StreetLite Max buses, built to Sapphire specification including e-leather seating, power points and extra leg room, will be used on Durham’s route 6 and in Northfleet. The order also includes 12 Wrightbus Hybrid StreetLite Midi vehicles for Southern Counties. Arriva’s Wrexham, Rhyl, and Luton depots will take the new Enviro200 midibuses which include an automated manual transmission (AMT) which ADL says reduces fuel consumption and emissions by around 13 per cent, on par with hybrids. Colin Robertson, ADL chief executive says: “We are delighted to have won 80 per cent of this huge investment by Arriva. This latest order means that we have secured 100 per cent of Arriva’s double-deck fleet replacement programme since late 2013, representing 300 vehicles. “In addition, Arriva will also be among the first operators in the world to introduce our revolutionary new midibus.” Arriva 2015 orders • 165 ADL Enviro400 • 11 ADL Enviro200 • 12 Wrightbus 10.8m StreetLite Midi Hybrid • 34 Wrightbus 11.5m StreetLite Max Hybrid • 4 Wrightbus 8.8m StreetLite Micro Hybrid • 6 Optare 8.8m Solo |

RE: Arriva bus order for 2015-16
The second batch of 47 Enviro400s will release older single deckers from their current routes rather than Pulsars, Metroline. In the case of Green Lane, the Myllenniums and Renowns will depart and the former will probably see short-term use at other depots with X registered buses needing replacement. Speke's batch are likely to replace the three Cadets and several Commanders for cascade elsewhere. It's a great deal for both depots as the troublesome and repugnant Myllenniums go from Green Lane and the three Cadets, unsuitable for any of Speke's routes, should finally leave.

RE: Arriva bus order for 2015-16
I thought there would be 11 Enviro200s split between Wrexham and Rhyl, however the article says Luton is included in the 11? |

RE: Arriva bus order for 2015
I've had a go at breaking down the 2015 order according to Bus Lists, Flickr photos and other websites. With the Enviro400s, things are simple: the majority are now delivered as of April 2015, with the North West's second batch the last order remaining, due to start delivery imminently. The destination of all 165 is known. However, the single deck order is a lot more complicated. The above press release refers to 28 Wright Streetlite Max buses for the North East (Sapphire specification), with six not referred to - Birkenhead's 487 order? Things have evidently changed however as 25 standard specification Streetlites have been delivered to Telford. Now, my understanding is that the North East will be using the former Bootle Pulsar 2s on the Sapphire 6/7 routes in lieu of Streetlites, so have some of these been redirected to Telford instead? Here's what I have so far: 165 x Alexander Dennis Enviro400 11 x North West (Liverpool Green Lane) for route 10B 26 x North West (St Helens) for routes 10/10A 16 x North West (Bootle) for routes 52/52A 9 x Wales (Chester) for route 10 [Sapphire specification] 17 x Yorkshire (Dewsbury) for routes 202/203 [MAX specification] 9 x The Shires (Aylesbury) for route 280 [Sapphire specification] 6 x Southern Counties (Maidstone) for route 101 [Sapphire specification] 17 x Yorkshire (Belle Isle) for route 110 [Sapphire specification] 7 x North East (Darlington & Durham) for routes 6/7 [Sapphire specification] 35 x North West (Liverpool Green Lane) for routes 12/13 and 15 12 x North West (Liverpool Speke) for route 75 16(?) x Alexander Dennis Enviro200 [Believe the breakdown of these is 6 for Wrexham, 5 for Rhyl and 5 for Southern Counties (Colchester) for Park & Ride] Wright Streetlite 11.5 metre Max Hybrid (more than 34 on order) 25 x Midlands (Telford) for local routes [Believe 7 for North East (Durham) to Sapphire specification currently being delivered] 12 x Wright Streetlite 10.8 metre Midi Hybrid [All 12 understood to be for The Shires (Stevenage)] Wright Streetlite 8.8 m Micro Hybrid (more than 6 on order) 6 x Southern Counties (Tunbridge Wells) for route 281 [Eco spec] 10(?) x Optare Solo 8.8 metre [Expected to be for Yorkshire Tiger and Hinckleybus]

RE: Arriva bus order for 2015
I think you have over simplified the Enviro400 situation. Many of the non-North West examples are the tail end of the 2014 order. The announcement stated a further 56 Euro 6 Enviro400s in the autumn. As far as I am aware no Euro 6 models have been delivered ... and being Euro 6 models will PROBABLY have the MMC body work. PS ... You can add 7 electric Optatre Metrocities to that list for London |

No, if you actually read it: 165 Enviro400s to the original body styling 109 Euro5 examples for North West, 62 due first (these being 4584-4644) followed by the remaining 47 later in the year The remaining 56 are either Sapphire or MAX specification for 6 Sapphire and 1 MAX routes - these including the 9 Euro6-engined original style examples already delivered and in service at Aylesbury - the rest are all Euro5 models for the depots listed by 507009 (except that, in a change of plan - the North East-bound examples are destined for Darlington for the 7 and Durham for the 24 as the 6 will now launch in the autumn with a entirely refurbished fleet). So, I don't see where you've got 56 Euro6 Enviro400s from - as 507009 has the breakdown spot-on. The only Euro6 vehicles on the order are the already stated 9 Enviro400s for Aylesbury (to comply with Oxford's LEZ) and 2 of the MAX-specification Streetlite MAXs recently delivered to North East which are seed vehicles to trial the Daimler engine available in the Euro6 Streetlite against the Euro5 Cummins engine examples to decide on which Euro6 engine option will be taken once Euro6 becomes mandatory in the UK. "In the autumn, Arriva will launch six premium Sapphire and two interurban express MAX routes with a further 56 Euro 6 Enviro400s." That is my interpretation of that line from the press release ... Please tell me how that does not say 56 Euro 6 Enviro400s. PS ... Lots has recorded the Aylesbury Enviro400s as Euro 5 ... So wondering where you sourced your info ... myself not familiar with visually telling them apart, and the time of year is wrong |

Every other source I can find mentioned nothing of Euro6 Enviro400s bar the 9 original style examples for the 280 (which can be told by the enlarged rear overhang over a Euro5 example). Also, if you look: 7 Sapphire for North East 17 Sapphire for Yorkshire 17 MAX for Yorkshire 6 Sapphire for Southern Counties 9 Sapphire for The Shires Total = 56 Which weren't on the 2014/15 order Also, the Streetlite order: 5 MAX-specification examples for North East 7 Sapphire-specification examples for North East 25 Standard--specification examples for Midlands The 5 MAX-specification examples were announced to the North East enthusiast network last year but they were always intended for the 2015 order. That's 37. 6 for Birkenhead now takes that to 43. Your roving North East reporter, bring you the latest news from Arriva North East, Stagcoach North East and Go North East.

RE: Arriva bus order for 2015
OK ... lets try to resolve this ... I dont have the records, but sure someone does. Arriva 2014 says it had 94 (104 other sources quote) buses for Sapphire services ... do we know what those are? Looks at the chassis numbers of the Aylesbury Enviro400s on buslistsontheweb ... I would not say they are Euro6. Looking at photos, can not see any difference between them and the two 2014 models on the route SFD4HSBRFEGXD7825 YY14WFU AD E420/2 H45/31F 7/2014 Arriva the Shires 5460 SFD4HSBRFFGXD8230 SN15LPK AD E446/1 H45/31F 3/2015 Arriva The Shires 5461 A known Euro 6 Diesel classic Enviro400 SFD1FXBRFEGXB8052 SL64HYZ AD E431/3 H41/24D 11/2014 Selkent10200 **EDIT** so OK seems we are saying the original post in this thread is incorrect about euro6 - but still have doubts about the 280s Enviro400s |
