Out of interest, what do these buses show on their displays?
If it's the usual 'Sorry Not in Service' then it might be a bit of a giveaway, but then they can't go around pretending to be in service and confusing all of the passengers ...

I was on 2504 a few days ago and noticed that it had 'double glazing' fitted using heavy-duty clear plastic sheeting in the middle windows of the bus.

Was they fitted internally or externally? On the outside would make it wider by an inch or so and don't know what DVLA or police would say. Internally and you get the glass bricked.

A few years ago (2009 maybe?), 2228 (X228 ANC) DartSLF/Pointer2 was a battle bus and it had clear sheeting fitted to the inside of the windows. When it was eventually removed in November, you could still see the drill holes on the black rubber window sills where the sheeting had been.

So it would make sense next year having 2504 a battle bus again as it would need less work and be out on the road again sooner

Ex-St Helens 4173 (LF52 URG) DB250/President decker (formerly DLP101) is now at Bootle Depot.
Easy to identify (its got an overall rear advert).
