The 142(044) that worked the 1016 Lime St to Man Air and return wasn't off an Airport working,it was additional off Allerton depot, did the 1016 Lime St - Man Air and return and then went empty Lime St-Manchester Victoria at 1247 to assist with the afternoon service out of Manchester Victoria |

RE: Northern Rail
What a come down for the passengers used to getting a 319 on the Manchester airport service , I have to admit though a 142 on good rails can't half shift if its healthy and running on both engines with a gearbox that works . |

RE: Northern Rail
There are some decent 142's out there. Still an EMU will leave a DMU for dead (if driven correctly) I've heard another 319 was having problems this morning. Don't know as wasn't up that early. |

RE: Northern Rail
I bet Northern are thinking lets see if arriva can get these 319's more reliable , seeing as there probably going to have to take on more of them when the 323 go to london Midland . |

RE: Northern Rail
The 22:09 Manchester Victoria - Liverpool Lime Street failed in the neutral section near Eccles tonight and was there for nearly 2 hours. 361 and 378 the units involved so I'm told |

RE: Northern Rail
They aren't long at all... I don't know the exact distance but they normally on,y last for a few seconds when the train is going along |

RE: Northern Rail
A standard neutral section is 155 feet long. The dead section of wire is 15 feet long. SD. |
