1599 GKA24N
Not quite preserved, but in use as a playbus in the Midlands. Took the opportunity on the way to a holiday in Devon to get some shots of the former MPTE 1599, in the hope it was in it's seemingly usual parking place on the A38 just outside Droitwich Spa. All taken on 24 May. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/18320243015 http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/18132422908 http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/17697631764 http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/18132500290 HTH https://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/ |

I'm assuming it's taxed and insured otherwise it wouldn't be allowed on the highway. |

Very sorry sight glad it's still going but be nice to see saved for Preservation but I don't think the current owner has finished with it yet judging by its website still being up |

Its obviously not blue (although it might've been some time ago), but it still seems to use the Leyland O.680 engine of 11.1 litre capacity. As seen 24 years ago, St Johns Lane, in service with Merseybus.... http://www.flickriver.com/photos/selmero...010605429/ (Photo Credit; SelmerOrSelnec) Notice the Taxi Rank and lay-by on St Johns Lane, and the awful, ugly-looking Concourse House office block in the background on Lime Street. I'm glad that's been demolished! |
