JPT Bus Company
RE: JPT Bus Company
I used JPT - their 118 a few times - for the first time on the 28th of last month. I noticed that the service was busy, however standards were low - non-uniformed drivers, scruffy buses and a "turn-up whenever" timetable.

One simple thing that some buses didn't have was seat cushions... 401 was missing a handful at the back and 531 was missing a few upstairs. It doesn't exactly give passengers a good impression of the company...!

I hope that this company manages to improve in the future as I enjoyed using them and the 118 and 156 both seemed like well-used services from what I seen.

RE: JPT Bus Company
I Dont think it will take much for JPT To improve

- 156 Seems a busy service, when i got it they had a full Excel seating load with a few standing as well. Clean up the presidents & use the Volvo B10Ls (they still seem in good nick) on this service
- 118 Seems to get decent loads as well (maybe not as good as 156),Use the Excels on this & if they still have it,the Enviro300
- Go for tenders around Middleton/Rochdale Area, the Halifax contracts are up soon so maybe go for the 528 & Re-do the timetable to Start/Finish in rochdale.Get some MPDs on cheap,Paint them up & make sure the Interiors are decent & they will be onto a winner
- Look into a service to Trafford Centre or Maybe an Express to Oldham Via Mill Hills. SLT Have managed to do Express Services to Trafford Cnt so why not JPT?
- Maybe do a Peak time Service To/From Manchester Uni,Via 53 Route to Cheetham Hill then Direct up into Middleton & maybe onto Rochdale?,Market it right & i think it could become popular with Students
- Get rid of the ALX200s ASAP! These are Awful Buses & really let the company down

Hi
I am not sure that Stagecoach wouldn't be interested in JPT. When you look at their history against First in Sheffield, Northampton and North Devon, once they move into First's area they steadily build up the pressure by taking on new services and develop a full and effective network. They appear to be building on the 50, 32 and X34 with the 74/75 and soon the 38. JPT would give them the opportunity to increase their coverage of Moston/Middleton at a stroke. The only exception is Glasgow where they seem happy with a smaller operation but in Manchester First have laid down the gauntlet with the extension of the 18 and now 42. Interesting times!!

I think it's only a matter of time before Stagecoach increase thier presence in the Middlton/Moston area but I really carnt see them being remotely interested in JPT.
Buying Bluebird has given them a base and a presence in Middleton so all they have to do is expand on what they already have.

I think if the price was low enough they wouldn't say no but I don't think JPT are on their wish list.

RE: JPT Bus Company
M402EFD is probably still parked up somewhere in their yard if they've still got it, looking at the weather for this coming week I might have a wonder past the back of their yard and see if its still there

RE: JPT Bus Company
Just read on another site that JPT might cease trading sometime before weekend. Don't know how true it is but it would fit in with several rumours flying around at the moment to do with TFGM having operators ready to cover tenders if they do go.

Again I stress it's only rumours and what's been posted elsewhere.

Omg, I hope it isn't true. If it is true then lets hope First/Stagecoach take over their routes and hire their drivers, like what happened at Maytree. Still many of the support staff may be jobless, a terrible situation.

If it was to happen then do you think First and Stagecoach will operate their commercial routes? Namely the 118 and 156?

RE: JPT Bus Company
Its hard to say really as in the past when bus companies have gone out of business its been the tendered routes that other companies have operated and commercial routes have just been withdrawn without replacement.

As for 118 & 156 I'm not to sure as both of these routes have sections that mirror other routes anyway although without 156 it does leave Middleton without a direct link to North Manchester Hospital, I guess we'll just have to wait and see but unless TfGM can rustle something up quick I can see it being at least a week before any of these routes pop up in any shape or form again
