RE: Halton Transport
I think the 14a serves the new cinema, bowling alley etc by B&Q whereas the 14 doesn't...

14A services serve Widnes Waterfront (as said) or start from there.
14A is also the number used for the shorter Hough Green Service outbound from Widnes, which mostly return as a normal 14.

I believe that used to be the case, but no longer is. See for example this pic of 32 bound for Hough Green Farm on a plain 14, taken this April.

The timetable only shows the outbound short journeys as 14A when they've come from or via the Hive/Waterfront.

RE: Halton Transport
It would be logical to assume that the new solo's are for the new 27 service.

RE: Halton Transport
Very intresting, I here that 1 of the new solos will be working the 27, 2 of the existing solos will continue to work the 26/26a and 2 of the 3 left will be used for the 2, with the last one being a spare for the entire fleet. Of course it will be very mix and match and the existing solos could be used on the 27 and the new on the 26/36a (despite branding). I agree that solos would be perfect for the 17, however I dont think Halton would buy more solos of blackpool for this route as they would be replacing newer longer vechiles (which doesnt make much sence). I think that simply these solos are being bought as a replacment for the older darts, which funily enough are around the same age as the solos. When are they due?

RE: Halton Transport
Mini Dart no. 20 is unusually on the 14 arriving into Liverpool at about 18:30, not seen this one in Liverpool for ages.

That is very unusual, I have on occasions seen it on a short 14 to Hough Green but I can only recall seeing it on a long 14 on 1 previous occasion. For the last few months since coming of 26 in February it has pretty much been confined to the 2.
