New Timetable for the 135 (St Helens - Boundary Road Circular): http://www.merseytravel.gov.uk/travellin...02013).pdf I do wonder how long this service will last. Wasn't carrying many even on an hourly frequency but this ad hoc timetable will probably tempt even fewer passengers. Dunriding Lane area will suffer the most given that the 139 only runs in between 10.00 and 15.00. This side of St Helens is still suffering from the Arriva changes from 2006 before which there was a half hourly service along this road throughout the day. |

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes
The 135 was only ever introduced to fill a gap in-between workings on the 137/138 so that the vehicles weren't sat idle for an extended period of time. I'd guess that by removing some journeys on the 135, they're hoping to strengthen the reliability on the main 137/138 services, which can be sketchy, by giving it some extra layover time but still maintaining some extra journeys to prevent returning to the situation pre the introduction of the 135 whereby there was a significant period of idle time at St Helens between every journey. |

i would think its down to reliability of the 137/138 being bad, i dont really see the need for the 135 as no one gets on often lol For Blog Posts Containing all the latest in the local Bus Scene The 2002 Bus Blog Subscribe to my Youtube Channel, Updated regularly! RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes
Trouble is with the 135 is that it is a fudge. There is no service that links the full length of Knowsley Road and the top end of Boundary Road to the Medical Facilities on Duke Street and the idea was to provide a partial link. This could be solved by re-routing either the 35 or 35A via Boundary Road and Duke Street. As for Dunriding Lane, as I said earlier, this area has never recovered from the Arriva 2006 alterations. |

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes
Either the 35 or 35A could be rerouted via Dunriding Lane? |

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes
Arriva must have there reasons for virtually leaving that area untouched , to be honest its nearly 8 years now so can not see Arriva going back there without very good reason , the problem now with a lot of the local routes is that the services carry concessionary passes which dont provide much revenue , whereas the inter regional routes like the 10/10A do provide commercial fare paying passengers. Unfortunately until the transport regime we have now goes to be replaced by something else we will always have these pockets of area's which to all intents and purposes are underserved. |
