Merseytravel to be renamed.
The ECHO has confirmed today that in future, Merseytravel will be renamed as 'Transport For Liverpool City Region'

What an awful name, no doubt the rebrand will be something as fit for purpose as the rest of our Metro Mayors vanity transport affairs.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

There trying to fit in with other regions but "Merseytravel" is original and what is there in being different I think all there trying to do is wipe the reputation Merseytravel has and bring a clean slate on Transport in Merseyside

Silly idea, imagine the money wasted on the discussions and then the rebrand. Add this to the money wasted on the hydrogen buses which was another self back slapping venture for Rotheram, yet he is nowhere to be seen now they are out of use. Everything that man does turns to dust or is a waste of money

RE: Merseytravel to be renamed.
Totally agree with the comments of MPTE1955.
Add to this his decision to build a new station at Daresbury, whilst it will be in a remote area of Halton will have no connection to any other station in the LCR area. It can only be served by trains which currently run between Chester and Warrington Bank Quay. As one of these is hourly to Manchester Airport Daresbury will divert passengers away from Liverpool Airport who our Mayor currently ignores getting any proper transport links to.
And finally the Mayor last year proudly announced the installation of more lifts at local stations. One of these stations was Broad Green which said that the work would be managed by Northern Rail. Well the work started in May last year and the first acts were to close the booking office and the subway. Fourteen months later and little work has been done. Yet the Mayors office has not followed up this project or answer any e-mails. He can plan a new station at Daresbury but cannot put a roof over the poor passengers at Broad Green every day.

RE: Merseytravel to be renamed.
TfLCR might not be catchy but I think it's worth remembering that in Greater Manchester the local transport body used to be called GMPTE, which must have been as equally un-catchy when it was first introduced.

The rebrand will have one positive - it will remove any confusion between Merseytravel and the train operator Merseyrail. In First North Western days, I like many others, found it confusing to see a Merseyrail logo on the Pacers. (And it was Merseyrail not Merseytravel).

Just as confusing as getting Orange Pacers in Liverpool.

RE: Merseytravel to be renamed.
If Merseytravel goes ahead with a PTE controlled bus system, do we know if that will have any specific 'brand' like the Bee Network in Manchester? Long term I imagine the TfGM name will only exist in legal lettering.

Just as long as they don't go the TfW route and create a TfLCR Rail brand!

On a similar point I'm pleased Frodsham and Helsby now have a direct service to Liverpool and one to Runcorn station, as well as services to Manchester and Runcorn East.

All too often Cheshire stations have a service to either Liverpool or Manchester and miss out important links. For instance, no stopping service between Crewe and Warrington and no link between Northwich and Warrington. For Winsford to Preston you either have to go via Liverpool or go south to Crewe and then come back up passing through Winsford again.
