No they were brought in for school contracts, not dupes, following award of additional contracts and due to delays in arrival of new buses and resulting cascades. The final three will return at the end of March and are not being purchased. I believe the poster saw 1529 which was in service on the 833 school bus, which uses Mersey Road North, on the day he mentions.

Looking at Bustimes.org 1525 is an interesting one as it last tracked on 1 February doing an afternoon duty on R7 Rochdale-Castleton service after doing School Service 862 St Cuthbert-Syke service.

Before then it seemed to have last tracked on 2 January doing the evening TfGM tender on 6 Kirkholt Circular.

So obviously if needed Rosso have been using these on normal service either that or 1525 has had a ticket machine change and another vehicle has been carrying 1525s ticket machine.

That'll be a machine swap, 1525 was returned to Blackpool Transport before Christmas.
