The Greater Manchester Combined Authority has launched another constatulation about the future of the buses in Greater Manchester and there is a route list in the document which I have found very interesting has a number of the recent changes to the network looks set to be reversed under these new proposals. Is this an aspiration for the routes in and out of the city centre, meaning Arriva's 263 or Stagecoach's X50 would remain exactly how they are or is this what they are proposing would replace the existing routes as part of a franchise system? The one thing that's obvious from that list is all routes start and end in Greater Manchester. There's nothing like the 184 Huddersfield-Manchester on that list. |

So looks like there is no plan to re-introduce a direct service to Wigan (only town of reasonable size not connected to Manchester by bus). Also as Knutstransport has said, no mention of cross boundary services. |

I think these are the routes proposed to replace the existing routes as part of the franchise system. With the 184 it looks like it being curtailed to Standage but that might be a loop up Huddersfield road and down standage road. I will get rest of the routes up later tonight as this is only the city centre routes I have collated together with Bury, Bolton, Rochdale, Middleton, Oldham and Tameside still to come. I have not bothered reading all the 100-page document has it full of waffle and jargon. |

How I would change it Manchester Routes Manchester to Brookhouse/Cadishead Manchester City Centre - Eccles - Brookhouse Manchester City Centre - Trafford Centre - Cadishead Manchester City Centre - Salford Royal Hospital - Cadishead How come running buses past Eccles? turn buses at Eccles and try push Metrolink for people past Eccles by using a low cost small bus Eccles local bus network Routes via Northenden & Wythenshawe Manchester City Centre - Northenden - Sale Manchester City Centre - Northenden - Timperley Manchester City Centre - Northenden - Wythenshawe Manchester City Centre - Wythenshawe - Wythenshawe Hospital Manchester City Centre - Wythenshawe - Manchester Airport Same again lots of buses running into Manchester that could just feed into Metrolink with just 1 route going into Manchester. with you ramping that up at peak. Details and survey are here: https://www.gmconsult.org/strategy-team/...sultation/ I have a feeling the list of routes is just the existing routes in Greater Manchester, probably from around the time bus franchising was first proposed. Probably around end of 2019. It would suggest that some of the cross-county routes would come under the franchising system while others wouldn't. I would have thought that even though the Greater Manchester section of the route is mentioned, the services would continue outside of the region to their current destination (certainly would be surprised if they terminated the 184 at the border, as there would be no easy way of turning buses around without going into West Yorkshire). I think it's a case of that if the service is operated from a depot within Greater Manchester and/or is not funded by another authority (e.g. Cheshire East Council, Lancashire County Council etc), it will be included in the franchising proposals. I think it is a list of all services to be included in the scheme as they were in 2019. |

Always astounds me that there is always more Tameside routes than Oldham routes, considering Oldham is the biggest town in the conurbation. |
