It's worth remembering while certain enthusiasts like seeing photos of buses in unusual places or with unusual things on the destination display, that the photos and buses may be seen by regular passengers. I heard some people booked with National Express instead of Megabus because they saw an ordinary Stagecoach Manchester bus running around out-of-service in Manchester with "Megabus LONDON" on the display and thought they would pay a few pounds extra to ensure they didn't have to travel all the way to London on an ordinary bus, even though the driver probably just decided to put that on the display for fun instead of "Sorry not in service." |

Depends what era your post refers to. In the early days of megabus in Manchester, a breakdown would often be covered by a standard Stagecoach Manchester vehicle (usually an ex Hk magic). I know someone who travelled return manchester to london and it was a magic both ways, and despite paying less than £10 return never used them again. |

Yes ordinary buses have been used and I'm sure there's a photo of MP68 BUS being used on a duplicate Megabus service somewhere but drivers putting unusual things on destination displays for fun like a Megabus route on an ordinary bus could do more harm than good. |
