If what ive heard this week is right then i dont think stagecoach would be in a posistion for a big buyout just yet and to be honest i think a buyout by anybody will only be after brexit.

Stagecoach could just do what arriva did in yorkshire you have yorkshire tiger that is not part of arriva yorkshire and to the man on the street you would not know there the same owners

What about National Express or Go Ahead coming in as buyers, National Express hasn't bought anything for ages and must have capital given National Express West Midlands makes a lot of money and they also have interests overseas, also National Express has previously had links with Arriva and in the past have owned Tees & District and United (Now Arriva North East), County Bus & Coach (Now Arriva Southern Counties) and Crosville Wales (Now part of Arriva North West & Wales).

Also Go Ahead must be still eager to grow into a bigger major player, and there are no issues except in the North East and London with duplication of networks. As Arriva except in Kent and Guildford stayed away from the South Coast were many of Go Ahead's opps are. The London work could be sold onward to an oversea's buyer.

NX Groups last acquisition was less than two weeks ago in the US ($60 million):

NX Group make more profit from the US & Spanish Ops which dwarf National Express West Midlands in size, their UK bus & coach ops now account for less than a third of profits these days.

NX don't seem so keen to expand in the UK, I'm sure they'll be interested in certain parts of Arriva, however, they will not overpay for any acquisition, it has to meet strict criteria under Dean Finch leadership.
