This is interesting.. A temporary summer timetable to fit around a lack of school buses maybe? I'd have suggested a possibly summer link through to Southport but would I be correct in thinking that if that were the case, it'd be stated in the registration variation as a secondary end point (i.e. Ormskirk/Southport)?

Also, the change commences from the 12th of August - a bit into the school holidays I think! I'd think that this change was to suit no school interworking in the morning and the afternoon, however why would they do that so late out of the school term?
