Interesting observation, Rhys. There were a number of changes to the Endurance body from 1994-1996. The most obvious one being the re-positioning of the radiator grille on later models (6501-6559 had the grille before the rear axle, 6561-6623 had the grille after the axle). The square-cut door windows seem to appear on the final 6604-6623 models, along with red marker lights on the rear quarter panelling. These Gillmoss-bound buses also had increased seating capacity (B50F) due to three tip-up seats in the luggage bay. Kind of ironic that isn't it? Try getting a wheelchair (or baby buggy) onto a high-floor step-entrance bus! I suppose it proves Wright were intent on creating low-floor stuff and the B10B chassis was running on limited time. Incidentally, fond memories of riding ZF-equipped 6623 (N623 CKA) on route 27. If you didn't get the chance to ride it, it sounded EXACTLY like the CMT B10BLE/Renowns. Not a pretty sound (in my opinion), I much preferred the Voiths. |
