Old Liverpool Routes

RE: Old Liverpool Routes
Thanks for that. Very comprehensive. I can remember a number of 'H' prefixed routes also operating between Warrington and Liverpool. I think the H2, operated by Crosville, was cut back to prescot upon deregulation and was operated under contract to Cheshirebus by Shearings. The H5 lasted for quite a while longer, being run for a while under the Warrington Goldlines branding during the Warrington bus wars. Essentially this service is now the extended 6 operated by Arriva (Green Lane). For a short time, WBT competed with their own H4, which was basically the same route, operating via Tarbock Road instead of Huyton town centre and entering Liverpool via Broadgreen Road and Old Swan rather than Edge Lane. WBT did, however, run the Sunday H5 under contract until this was replaced by a commercial service run by Arriva in 2006. |
