Best places would be either Crewe Bus Station or Winsford Town Centre, with the latter particularly likely between 3:30pm & 4:30pm if one or more is on a school bus. Be prepared to wait though because, if you jut miss one, it might take a few hours for it to return on a cycle.

31 is it a good bet - as there usually seems to be a decker used on there. As it runs via Leftwich I guess a lot of John Deanes pupils use it.

You're right that one sometimes pops up on the 1 but it's usually operated by 2 x Centros. Although, pretty much everything at Winsford gets a turn on the 1 at some point - Solo SRs, Mellors, Enviro 400s, Pulsars, Geminis, Eclipses etc.
