I would prefer to call it The Ridley Cuts rather than Beeching for Ridley was the architect of the 1985 Act that resulted in bus deregulation. For those of us with long memories, we were promised a more efficient, streamlined bus service that would would guarantee socially necessary (supported) services for isolated communities. It's been a death by a thousand cuts - especially since 2010 - but it's blindingly obvious to anyone who relies on buses that the bus is close to death.

Anyone care to suggest how to resuscitate the patient?
