If you look at a stop list for the Merseytravel service, you see 17 odd stops. The W&B train has 6. As an outsider, which one do you think about getting? IF you see a 17 stop train, you think it will go round the world and back again. 6 stops is alright though, nice and quick train. Regardless of timings (as they aren't shown on the Chester boards). I would say 1/2 the UKs train users don't know what their ticket restrictions are or even what they mean. How are international tourists going to know. Prior to the recent TPE changes passengers at Huddersfield seem to have no problems with TPE services to Piccadilly are the fast services and depart from platform 1, Victoria services are slow Northern services and depart from platform 4, why should it be any different at Chester to Lime Street where Merseyrail trains have designated platforms? Surely if passengers go to the ticket office they'll be asked if they want the cheaper Merseyrail only ticket or the more expensive any permitted ticket and if they buy the cheaper ticket from a TVM it should give a warning that the ticket is only valid on Merseyrail services, with the printing on the ticket confirming the validity. |
