How on earth can one driver make himself basically an extra 13 minutes late in both directions?!?!? And why would he want too! 13 minutes too the airport, then left 5 late, arrived 18 late at St Hel, so another 13 lost on that journey. God knows how late he got by the end of his shift!!

If a bus is late, it picks up extra passengers - those who reached the stops a bit early, expecting to catch the following bus. That takes extra time at each stop, so a late bus tends to get later & later. Meanwhile, the next bus picks up fewer passengers than normal -- many will have caught the late-running previous bus - and is able to gain time on the schedule.
