In a car or van, I'd certainly be inclined to agree with you, though in a Leyland Olympian, where the advantage of covering a longer distance on faster roads is reduced, I'd consider going A550 Welsh Road, A41, Birkenhead Tunnel.

What surprises me is that the journey is being done at all. Southport?? Is that really the nearest place to Rhyl that they can store these for the winter?!

Undercover accommodation in depots these days is a premium that not many have now as they have gone towards newer more modern depots .

Building work is taking place at the depot. The open top buses are at Southport depot for winter storage as mentioned in the Southport thread hence why buses are getting parked at Kinmel street.
