They've certainly served their purpose well, I kind of liked these even if they did have the Capital bodywork.

I agree with you Tom, they are great buses. I would pick one of those Marshalls any day than the ex-Impera Plaxtons that have the more recent engine. Anyway just my opinion Smile

You mean where 129 was parked!

511's engine failed, so it's been withdrawn for that reason. 154 may also be another bus withdrawn, but that's not confirmed. Apparently, 152 will return soon. 307 is in the process of having a new engine fitted; 107 is to follow/off of the road for the same reason. 456 is awaiting a part that's not available in this country, so that won't be out for a while.

That's such a shame. I had both 922 and 923 on the weekend; whilst 923 wasn't as bad as 922, they were both really bad buses (923 was sluggish and rattly, whereas 922 was both of those plus it had fumes and jerked between gears).

Recently-acquired 246 was no better as it stunk of burning and fumes were visible at the back of the bus at times (the driver was told, but he wasn't concerned). 252, on the other hand, was a lot smoother and faster - whist 452 (a personal favourite) was fast but a bit rattlier. 352 is on the road but restricted (or was) to the 39C (with paper/card number in the destination area) due to some issues. Interestingly, the ex-Impera 52-plated TransBus' have had 548-style seating placed on the bottom half of their back seats!

Neither has 923, They are both still in service today. 922 on 86 service & 923 on an 80 service! Didn't look to healthy when they went past me though as they both sounded awful & left a trail of black smoke behind them!

Yes 922 still definitely in service - I passed it on Holm Lane this morning. Also I see the 39c is withdrawn from the end of the current school term.

RE: Avon Buses
Was on the 83 from Greasby to Hoylake yesterday on one of the ex Impera buses KU52.... It sounded awful and smelt of fumes at the back. Looks like its difficult to polish a turd...Also as the bus pulled away from a stop in West Kirby near the primary schools an old dear fell to the floor as she had not sat down properly and banged her head...We helped her back up to her seat.. Hope she is ok! The schools near there have awful double parking. The driver was trying to get through the traffic whilst there was a gap. Wish cars would allow buses to get through by avoiding double parking..
