RE: Old Liverpool Routes
Good stuff again mtl, I remember some of the chaos at this time, buses were hit & miss with reliability but also gave us a chance to ride some buses that we werent used to riding. Some long journey in there as well.

RE: Old Liverpool Routes
The 195 at dereg ran Rainhill Stoops - Prescot - St Helens - St Helens Hospital.

It's interesting how the 10/10A have increased in frequency over the years. They were a new service at dereg (extension of 10 from Prescot and withdrawal of 7/8 St Helens - Prescot circulars). At dereg, the 10 was every 30 minutes daytime, hourly evenings/sundays, 10A was every 15 minutes daytime, 30 minutes evenings/sundays. The 110/210 ran early mornings although they ran until around lunch on Sundays. Merseybus had the contract initially but in January 1989, Halton Transport won the contract (as they had also quite a few Sunday Morning contracts) and mysteriously within a week Merseybus ran earlier journeys in competition with Halton's subsidised journeys which due to this action didn't last long. Was a strange time, deregulation was.

Yep quite a few routes surprised me such as the 52 which was different from todays 52 also 62 going to Leckwith Road, but biggest surprise the 88 going to Stockbridge. The 107 went mainly via the 11, but went via Whiston.

762 was via mainly 761 but diverted via Bootle, but didn't last long.

I've got a map from March 88 which i'll post the route list within a few days, but most of the Crosville Huyton/Prescot routes are gone, as the depot closed permanently because the strike. Also Merseybus covered some North Western Routes to give Saveaway coverage after North Western refused to accept Saveaway tickets.

The 10 shared it's frequency with the 10C, the 10 was every hour on Evening & Sundays, but 10/10A/10C shared the frequency Prescot to Pier Head, there was also the 34/320 which operated beyond St Helens to Liverpool, 34 to Manchester, 34 was every hour in those days, remember waiting for it a few times at Newton Le Willows Station, had good connection with the stopper train from Liverpool

RE: Old Liverpool Routes
The 34 only went up to half hourly when GM and MTL were in competition in the early 90's.

Also the 195 at dereg was interesting, as along with other St Helens Midibus routes (104, 109,155), Merseybus hired some South Yorkshire Dennis Dominos (C4x/5x HDT I think) alongside the 702x/3x Lances. Although I do recall one of the last remaining AEC Swifts occaisionally appearing on the 195 (now there was a REAL St Helens bus - happy days).

May be wrong but think the 34 went to every 30 minutes in 1991 before the bus war, do remember it being every 30 minutes in 1992 as it interworked with the Manchester 32 which was every 30 minutes, although the 34 interworked with the 32 when it was every hour.

RE: Old Liverpool Routes
19B/19C was a slightly different route going down Everton Valley & Scotland Road partial replacement for the 44D

20/21 was interesting 20 going to Northwood rather than Tower Hill also going down the Vauxhall Road rather than Scotland Road whilst the 21 went down Mill Street in Toxteth then followed the 20 to Kirkdale Roads before going down Westminster Road, but the 21 only went to Fazakerley.

Interesting routes are X7/X17/X37 which would merge to form the X8

All the Kirkby area numbers 150-159 were withdrawn at D-Reg, but replaced by other routes.
