Could be interesting as it seems Stagecoach are about to put their fares up judging by the window decals being removed on most buses, so for the first time we could see First Fares cheeper than Stagecoach, unless Stagecoach are following suit and lowering their fares tooLOL

Please see the Stagecoach Manchester thread for details of stagecoach revised fares from 31st March.

RE: First Manchester
In a way it is right for First Manchester to reduce the prices of their day and longer-period tickets. These cover a narrower area since they sold the Wigan operation to Stagecoach late last year.

Did think that too. I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the factors for the reductions. I'm sure the Metrolink extension to Oldham, Shaw and Rochdale plus Stagecoach's takeover of Bluebird and the success of the Oldham and M60 tickets could be other factors. Also, First would probably want some more positive publicity given some of the criticisms they've had in the past.

RE: First Manchester
I agree with you SF07, First would want some positive publicity instead of negative publicity.
P·S: I think they want positive publicity to seduce customer's to get on their busses and with that they would get more of a profit .

First's service changes for 7 April now listed on their website. Some changes mentioned are:

*22 - Additional weekday journey at 1715 from Bolton to Stretford and at 1900 from Stretford to Bolton
*472 - 1715 weekday journey will leave at 1710 and have additional running time
*X34 - Minor timetable changes to the 0630 weekday journey from Leigh and 1812 weekday journey from Manchester

Also, several services will move stands at Pendleton with the 67/100 to Manchester moving from Hankinson Way to Rossall Way (which may mean having to loop around from Rossall Way to Hankinson Way and Churchill Way):

*37 to Manchester: stand A -> D
*37 to Bolton: stand K -> J
*52 to Failsworth: stand B -> A

RE: First Manchester
More news on First's planned fare reductions from 8 April.

The FirstMonth ticket will be reduced from £58 to £48. However, the ticket will no longer be able to be bought from the driver from 8 April. Any passengers wishing to buy a FirstMonth ticket will have to purchase it from the First website or from TfGM Travelshops. The FirstAnnual ticket will also reduce from £580 to £480.

Not sure if there are reductions in single fares (and if so, by how much) but First state on their website that single fares will cost between £1.40 and £4.
