Passengers where told on the buses on Friday that the company was closing, whether this was a drivers decision to do so I have no idea, but several members of the population of Leigh already seemed to know by Sunday.

I did see a post in a Residents route dating friday saying a driver had told her the operation is closing

Looks like all of the unique private plates have been removed from the Enviros now.

I noticed that myself when I was in Leigh earlier today I wonder if Warrington will give the J5 Bus plate back or will they be keeping it

I doubt it. If Jim Stones were going to retain the "J5 BUS" registration number then it would have been retained when the vehicle was sold

RE: Jim Stones Coaches
B1 JYM is now MT66 MTE.

JB51 BUS has left the fleet for Libra Travel as it’s given registration.

It'll be interesting to see what happens or where their unique Leyland DAB single decker A499MHG ends up.

RE: Jim Stones Coaches
Such a shame to see Jim Stones coming to an end

The re-reg plates are as follows

MM13 OCH - - BUS 51T
MM14 DWU - - BU52 LEE
MM14 DWX - - M1 BUS
MM14 DXK - - BUS 1T
MH15 LHR - - B1 BUS
MT66 MTE - - B1 JYM
MH17 EGJ - - H1 JYM
MH17 EGK - - BUS 1S

In a way you realise how modern a fleet it is when you see the conventional plates!

Are B10 JYM (X674 OBA) and BUS 1N (Sep 2012) still here?

This was actually offered unofficially for preservation some time ago but with no takers. Sad to see the Private plates removed they were an interesting part of this fleet since 1991. Presume common sense means Jim Stones will make money out of the plates rather than ither bus companies who would buy the vehicles then sell the plates on, thus capitalising off the sales, although who might want BU 52 LEE remains a mystery considering now no bus or coach operators are now based in Leigh or Atherton other than an odd Minicoach operator.
