Forgot to note repaints, however in the bodyshop was 5018- accident damage, will be returning to Runcorn this week 4100- scrap, being stripped for useful spares, also donating lots of parts to long term VOR 4104 2546- refitting of seats and handrails, will be returning to regular service, likely at Winsford to displace another Centro 2631(?) - accident damage There was also the Welsh Enviro400 that fell into the ditch midway through it's repairs, forgot to make a note of the number. |

4100 scrap? A very surprising move. She resided at LS for many a month, and left intact. It needed a lot of work for its MOT, since it was last used at Winsford. What has been salvaged so far? A strange move given the quantity of redundant B7TL's in the fleet at the moment. I recall 4210 even being at the bodyshop stored pending disposal? A more appropriate candidate for cannibalisation, surely. I can only assume components on the elder examples are different in some way mechanically. |

4104 was long term VOR, and heavily cannibalised in the 2 years it was at Winsford VOR. Since then, it has had a new engine, a repaint and retrim, and has then sat once again VOR awaiting the time and parts to get it back on the road. 4100 has been VOR since November 2018, and as you rightly say, went to Birkenhead for MOT, but was found to be needing a lot more work than expected. It is worth noting that last time I checked, there is a stripped 41** B7 at Speke too? Mechanically, older B7s like the ex London ones do have a lot of differences, Im sure a mechanic might be able to note these differences in detail. Not sure of any more logic behind the matter as I've no idea what 4104 is or had missing, but obviously somewhere along the line, somebody deemed it more appropriate to use 4100 as a donor rather than also put that back onto the road. Hope this helps! |
