Darwen Coach Services - NorthernCounties - 20/10/2016 22:05

For those who haven't seen the post on Facebook, during an operation targeting vehicles near Blackburn, a vehicle belonging to DCS, reportedly a solo W304EYG, was seized for operating without insurance and driver didn't have the correct licence

Having read the story it sounds like the fact the driver didn't hold the correct licence has actually made the insurance invalid. I would have thought the bus would have triggered anpr cameras if it wasn't actually insured.

I presume it was stopped because of anpr. Its triggered a lot of debate on Facebook.
But you're right that even if the bus is insured his licence would invalidate the insurance.

The Lancashire telegraph confirms that only 1 bus was seized as part of a safety roads policeing sting. The driver of the bus didn't have the correct category on his licence to entitle him to drive the vehicle so even though the company held valid insurance it was void as the driver didn't hold the correct licence.

According to the transport manager of the firm the driver has worked there for 20 years, his licence was last checked in July and was fine for him to drive, for whatever reason he hasn't renewed the licence since so the category has expired which is why the bus was seized - apparently.

Couldn't post the link to the page but hopefully someone can Smile

Darwen coach services seem to be in more trouble. Reported by Lancashire police again, stopped one of their buses for having no insurance.

Unfortunately it apppears to be true. Wonder if Transdev will take back some of the routes they cut. There aren't many small operators left in Lancs now.

Just seen it on Facebook. Ceased trading due to "in house problems".
Still sad that another Indy has gone.
