RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan - SF07 - 27/03/2019 20:02 I did wonder whether the 149 might be the whole service, including Monday-Saturday daytime journeys, as TfGM was proposing changing the route to run between North Manchester General Hospital and Chadderton Park via Moston, Oldham and Royal Oldham Hospital for this month and did say "operator TBC". https://www.gmcameetings.co.uk/download/meetings/id/4103/05_forthcoming_changes_to_the_bus_network RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan - M60lad - 01/04/2019 18:28 Stagecoach Manchester's 19254 & 12229 have been involved in an altercation on Portland Street in Manchester according to Manchester Evening News: https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/manchester-bus-crash-portland-street-16061405 Not to sure how long both will be off the road for or indeed whether they will be fixed. In other news 171/172 are having to turn short in Clayton until further notice while repairs are made to the Level Crossing at Berry Brow after an RTC there earlier today. I'd have to disagree with you there - IMO the damage to 3098 was much worse RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan - ant17612 - 01/04/2019 18:57 (01/04/2019 18:52)Y474 KNF Wrote: I'd have to disagree with you there - IMO the damage to 3098 was much worse Either way I'd still be surprised to see it return, but I remember an ELC bodied Trident getting fixed (18288?) after a similar incident. Bit bizarre given it was withdrawn not long after coming back. The case with the East Lancs Trident was different as it was a failure of an Arriva vehicle that caused the accident, therefore Arriva's insurance paid for the Stagecoach Bus to be repaired, hence why it was repaired. With this ADL it may be repairable but would probably get moved away in any-case if it survives, due to its age and the introduction of new emission standards that this bus cannot be converted too, its just slightly too old. I thought the emissions limit was buses built before 1 Jan 2013? 12229 was built the following Autumn. Of course, the date is just an arbitrary figure as I fail to see how identical buses built a day or two apart can automatically have different NoX & PM10 outputs. And *still* no-one has explained why hybrids are no better than pure diesels with identical Euro ratings? Besides, the damage to 12229 looks minimal. As for 19254, there would be no rush to make a decision because the Universities are now winding down for Easter and the exam season and presumably decisions are yet to be made on MagicBus services for next September onwards RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan - Mayneway - 02/04/2019 12:50 The Magic bus apparently turned up at Sharston this morning, was inspected then sent to Wigan according to my pal who's a fitter there. Presumably Wigan means it's possibly going for scrap eventually?? RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan - Solo40336 - 02/04/2019 14:47 One think with the Enviro400's, there very easy to repair, simple framework and very rarely get wrote off after an accident, generally as Stagecoach are at fault and will be paying for it, it will be repaired in house rather than sent to a bodyshop. Quite a lot of the serious accidents and most burn-outs are repaired at Wigan as they have the staff availablity to do it. If the bus stays in Manchester afterwards is anyone's guess but it's still an asset within the Stagecoach Empire. RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan - gilesbus1 - 04/04/2019 00:00 Could it not be that its gone to Wigan to be repaired, and then maybe used there as well as keeping older deckers at Wigan helps with emissions on Oxford Road which has been a proposal by the Mayor and various Manchester Councils, TfGM etc for some time. By keeping older deckers at Wigan means there is absolutely no way it will find its way onto Oxford Road, I also presume this is the reason why most older Enviro Enviro400's are based at Wigan in order to keep them out of Manchester City Centre as apart from Service 34 nothing else operated from Wigan penetrates Manchester or goes anywhere near. Though given that, I aren't quite sure why the 56 reg Enviro Enviro400's have ended up at Sharston and that they penetrate into Manchester City Centre which makes no sense, and would have emissions too high for Oxford Road under current Mayoral policy. All I can assume is that they are a short term stop gap measure and will move on elsewhere afterwards, once newer vehicles are sourced. |
