Northern are using platform 1&2 at present, the middle line has been removed between platforms 1&2 with new signals in place. Platform 2 is accessed by a new point at the top of platform 1. Lots of work ongoing in the tunnel approach, A ballast train was stationed in the tunnels. Platforms 4 at Huyton and Roby in use for the St Helens Central / Wigan and Preston services.
