RE: Happy 18th Birthday Arriva Merseyside - MTL0201 - 23/02/2018 12:34

Another thing, Arriva had to replace a lot of the deckers, the average age of the Atlanteans & Titans were 18-20 years when Arriva took over, although Arriva replaced them with inadequate Darts, Cadets & Myllenniums, what did surprise me was Arriva withdrawing most of the E & F reg Olympians, think only a couple stayed, a lot of it was due to a policy of a certain B Hind, only recent years Arriva have got new deckers.

True!
It seems the interior colours and seating were the only things changed from the original MTL order. Even the number plates were booked by MTL but kept to order by Arriva.
The Renowns would've followed the Endurances, keeping the Volvo sequence thus;

MTL 6621 (N621 CKA) B10B/Endurance
MTL 6622 (N622 CKA) B10B/Endurance
MTL 6623 (N623 CKA) B10B/Endurance

MTL 6701 (X701 DBT) B10BLE/Renown
MTL 6702 (X702 DBT) B10BLE/Renown
MTL 6703 (X703 DBT) B10BLE/Renown etc.

Needless to say, Arriva re-numbered them to 2701 etc, and they've only recently been withdrawn.

2728 & 2730 are still in service but haven't got long left now I think

The Crusaders would have followed the Marshall Capitals too - 7801-7822 (or 7801-7820 if X810/20 AJA were issued)

It makes you wonder though. If MTL were still around today what would their fleet consist of?

I bet 2728 is withdrawn when the 12 gets cut back next month

Probably ex London stock, I base that on the acquisition of all those titans.

If Mtl and more Importantly by Beloved Northwestern where still about i wonder what the frequencies would be like on routes where they competed. I Wonder if Skelmersdale would still be Open? I wonder what vehicles would have been bought instead?

I mean my old uk based route was the 352 but we had the 62/342/352/362/372/510 maybe some others i do wonder what frequencies would be like and if places would have better links, Maybe even the 362 would still be SH to Chorley via Wigan?

North Western would still be Arriva regardless, & Skem depot prob still be closed. MTL would be a different company, as the MTL would have gone bankrupt had no one brought MTL.

Other people might have already realised this. However, I now know where you got your username from! Smile

As MTL had such a nice moquette, it's a pity that no more buses came with this following the takeover by Arriva.
