RE: D&G Bus - knutstransport - 07/08/2017 15:18

D&G have put the following on their website

Quote:You can buy your ticket in advance from the following locations:

Premier Convenience Store, 35 High Street, Silverdale
• Potteries Weekly Rover £12, Potteries Four-Weekly Rover £46, Network Weekly Rover £18

Nantwich Tourist Information, Civic Centre, Nantwich
• Adult Cheshire Weekly Rover £15, Child Cheshire Weekly Rover £10, Network Weekly Rover £18, Network Four-Weekly Rover £70

Super News, 4 Market Street, Crewe
• Adult Cheshire Weekly Rover £15, Network Weekly Rover £18, Network Four-Weekly Rover £70

Shire News, 110 High Street, Newcastle
• Potteries Weekly Rover £12, Potteries Four-Weekly Rover £46, Network Weekly Rover £18, Network Four-Weekly Rover £70

Are these pre-printed Monday to Sunday tickets or do they have a way of printing tickets in those shops?

From Nantwich weekday departures will be hourly from 08:15 to 15:15 then a 17:00 and 18:00 service.

From Hanley weekday departures will be hourly from 08:53 to 16:53.

There are also some part journeys e.g. there is a 07:35 Newcastle to Nantwich journey but there isn't any easy way to find all part journeys on Traveline.

Full timetable here. Because the service runs in the Traveline WM region, it is available via that site, or alternatively Traveline South West... this is due to these regions using the same back office system.

It could possibly be the PayPoint system. you can apparently purchase Arriva week tickets at Paypoint locations.

In theory if a ticket is available from a Paypoint machine it's available at any shop with a Paypoint machine (provider the cashier knows how to issue it!) I've noticed recently drivers handing over weekly tickets which have already been printed opposed to printing tickets off the machines so wondering if the shops had been given the same.

Do D&G have any form of day ticket? Or is it just singles and returns? Seems to me their ticketing is a bit dated.

RE: D&G Bus - iMarkeh - 08/08/2017 18:04

Day tickets were £5 when I jumped on.

Technically it's a Network Return but effectively the same thing.

Full new 85 timetable including some short 85A services to replace the current 1A services: http://dgbus.co.uk/assets/85%2c85a_2017-09-03.pdf

It looks like they're going to take a vehicle off the route at school start/finish times which reduces the frequency of Nantwich-Marshfield-Crewe services at those times but for most of the day Crewe-Marshfield-Nantwich will retain a half-hourly frequency.

The new 78: http://dgbus.co.uk/assets/78_2017-09-03.pdf also sees a gap in service at school finishing time and no Nantwich departures before 9am.

The new 94 sees re-routing via Bradwell and some extra Bradwell to Newcastle services (replacing the existing 17 service) but retains the existing frequency between Congleton and Newcastle: http://dgbus.co.uk/assets/94%2c94a_2017-09-03.pdf

Sounds like one of the 88 services was involved in a crash on Friday. The article doesn't specifically mention that it was a 88 bus but at the time given it's likely there would be an 88 bus in each direction passing through Mobberley and unlikely there would be another bus on that road. It had been raining very heavily so it's possible aquaplanning was to blame.

So Cheshire East have decided they should subside the 78 extensions to Scholar Green at the expense of withdrawing the Nantwich to Leighton Hospital/Coppenhall/Sandbach evening and Saturday services

Cheshire East Wrote:78 - Timetable revised. As a result of D&G’s decision to withdraw elements of their commercial 78 service, Cheshire East Council has prioritised its existing funding to secure the most heavily used Monday to Friday daytime journeys. As a result of these changes and the financial constraints on the Council, there will be no evening or Saturday services on the 78 from Monday 4 September 2017.

Please note that the 78 timetable in D&G's new booklet is now out of date.
