Only at a Northern Rail or Merseyrail Electrics booking office .

You will also be able to purchase from the On board conductor on the Diesel special train as well.

Booked traction should be 2 x 156's.

No chance of a 142 showing up, not cleared for Halton Curve.

Are you sure class 156 are cleared? It's been a Class 150 since Northern took over the franchise.

I've been told it's a single 150.

2 x Class 156 (or even 150s) could not be accommodated at Stanlow or Ince & Elton or on Platform 3 at Helsby.

ATW were initially going to provide stock, and a 158 was suggested, until it was pointed out that it's not cleared for the route.

I know that when the Chester - Runcorn service is extended to Liverpool South Parkway it has been two 150/1 units due to the larger amount of people travelling.

There is a difference in length between a 150 (20 metres coaches)and 156/8 (23 metre length coaches ).

On curved platforms it is very noticeable the difference in lengths .

Yes. 156's have made very rare appearances over the line.

Might be one of those wait and see things tomorrow.

But the booked traction (whether it happens in reality or not) is 2 x 156's.

The timing sheet I saw from Northern shows it booked for 2 x 156. We'll see what pops on it tomorrow.

Though its a journey I make on a semi regular basis, am kind of oddly looking forward to riding the stretch between Ellesmere Port amd Hooton on a DMU for the first time in nearly 20 years. Kind of nostalgic somewhat. Smile
Class 101 was the last DMU I traversed that section of line on back in early 1994.
