RE: Northern Rail - wirralbus - 09/07/2012 18:16 Due to flooding at Walsden , services on the calder valley line between Rochdale and Hebden Bridge have once again been suspended . Im led to believe there had been some really heavy rain in the area this lunchtime which have exaccerbated previous weather related problems in the area. RE: Northern Rail - J654UHN - 09/07/2012 19:49 passed through there yesterday and some of the shops are gutted completely. Majority of the places had sand bags round the doors RE: Northern Rail - wirralbus - 09/07/2012 20:03 I think with the weather now so unreliable that network rail are now increasing there patrols in known trouble spots so that they can check for track being undermined or possible landslip locations . RE: Northern Rail - St Helens Rider - 13/07/2012 14:42 Interesting short documentary on BBC website about 'ghost' trains feature Stockport - Stalybridge and Helsby - Ellesmere Port. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18644343 RE: Northern Rail - wirralbus - 13/07/2012 17:58 I do find some of the explanations of how these parliamentary trains come to fruition . Stockport - Stalybridge still makes some sense in a way because it makes logical sense. Chester - Runcorn , just is literally to cover the track needed to prevent a closure notice , im surprised it isnt Frodsham - Runcorn . Helsby - Ellesmere Port , this must be the most pointless service , especially the morning ones where i think only one connects with a merseyrail service . This service is all that remains of the Liverpool - Warrington Bank Quay - Chester/Ellesmere Port service . Stockport to Stalybridge - There was an hourly service on this route before the Trans Pennine services were diverted through Manchester Piccadilly in the early 90s. This left the route between Guide Bridge and Heaton Norris Junction without any services. Chester to Runcorn - It could not be Frodsham to Runcorn because you cannot turn a train round there. RE: Northern Rail - wirralbus - 14/07/2012 09:36 It could run empty from Chester to Frodsham , just as it does from Runcorn to liverpool lime street . RE: Northern Rail - St Helens Rider - 14/07/2012 12:14 Operationally wounldn't make it a lot more sense to run Chester - Runcorn - Liverpool - better operationally and a better link for passengers. It has occasionally, (two or three times in so many years), ran to Liverpool South Parkway in service, then ECS to Lime Street so the paths are available for passenger use. Needs to go on Platform 4 at LSP though. The train starts the day on the Warrington - Ellesmere Port shuttle, then reverses around Helsby & runs empty to Chester arriving 07:26. Currently arrives Runcorn at 08:13, departs at 08:16, then fast lines through to LSP, arriving at 08:24, then slow lines to Platform 3 at Lime Street arriving 08:36. It then works 2F26 09:16 Liverpool to Warrington BQ, so 40 minutes sat around at Lime St. RE: Northern Rail - childwallblues - 14/07/2012 17:51 (14/07/2012 15:45)First Class Wrote:The 0753 Chester to Runcorn is extended to Liverpool South Parkway next Saturday (21st).(14/07/2012 12:14)St Helens Rider Wrote: Operationally wounldn't make it a lot more sense to run Chester - Runcorn - Liverpool - better operationally and a better link for passengers. |
