All six of 387301-6 are now in service. Currently they operate only in peak hours as 12 car trains,

This means that, for the first time since franchising started in 1996, NatEx will have no UK rail services. It also gives Trenitalia their eagerly-awaited debut on UK Rail now that they have pre-qualified as a future bidder for franchises here. Bombardier Transportation, Derby have been awarded a £105 million contract by Porterbrook to supply 6 x 10 carriage Aventra trainsets to C2C. Delivery will commence in 2021.

There now seems a fascination with these very long trainsets now on routes into and through London.

Question will be whether these six units of 10 carriages will see only peak hour or all day use.

Units with more carriages have more capacity and require less units to be constructed. I'd imagine six units of ten cars will be slightly cheaper to build than twelve units of five cars. I personally think that it's better to have the extra capacity now and not have the possibility of having to either order more carriages to extend existing units or have to order more new trains in the future

I would imagine that the new units would part replace 387301-306 which are only on short term hire from Porterbrook.
