Either I was seeing things but I am sure I seen a Wright Pulsar 2 in old standard livery on the 81 today

Does anyone know how the fancy illuminated adverts on some vehicles are powered?
They look like LEDs to me, but I could be wrong.

Is Pulsar 2949 a permanent transfer to Speke? I travelled on it today on the 80A and noted that it had a nearside advert for Christmas in Liverpool.
