RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - iMarkeh - 24/10/2018 22:25 The 239 has much less running time than the 139. The 139 was good with timings so reducing the times was never going to work that well. I think it is a punctuality thing and not trying to drop the service. Especially as they are being paid to run the 239. Especially as they are being paid to run the 239. Sounds like a Merseytravel cost cutting exercise , and to ensure that no complaints go in for running late. I know when services have gone every 40 mins or every 75 mins its harder for the travelling public to comprehend but its better than no service at all ? It's the council themselves. If it was reduced so that driver numbers or PVR was reduced, I would fully agree but it's still using 2 buses and surely the same amount of drivers so really there is no cost reduction. Huyton to Whiston had 10 minutes on the 139. It has been reduced to 6 mins each way. Whiston to Prescot was 14 minutes, it's now 10 minutes but has a longer route (As it goes around to the bus station and not straight up past Tesco as previous). I do genuinely think they cut timings as far as they could to make it half hourly and they have cut times too far so services are suffering. Like I say, if there was a cost benefit, I would agree with you but with the same PVR and probably the same number of drivers, there is no cost benefit. RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - MPTE1955 - 25/10/2018 10:59 How is there no cost reduction, the route is shorter so that means it costs less, that is obvious. RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - iMarkeh - 25/10/2018 18:47 There is a cost reduction since the 139. I mean from the September 239 timetable and the upcoming November timetable. Obviously between the 139 and the 239 there is a reduction. RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - busdude - 26/10/2018 09:07 Avon replacement services https://www.merseytravel.gov.uk/travel-updates/Documents/Avon%20-%20List%20of%20Replacement%20Services%20%28Oct%202018%29.pdf Some of the changes are very interesting, route 16/17 to extend to Raby mere replacing the 84, route 38 extending to EastHam ferry replacing the 85, route 22 to serve Sandbrook replacing the 18, the 82 being extended to Greasby probably reaplacing the 88 and looks like the 91 will follow some of the old 90 route in oxton. I wonder if A2B will run the 73 RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - T42 PVM - 26/10/2018 09:11 One thing not mentioned is the 10/10A and 83A which Arriva only have registered until the middle of November, I do wonder if they will be kept or not RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - Busguy12 - 26/10/2018 09:18 So they have joined the 84 to the 16/17 RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - motormayhem1 - 26/10/2018 11:33 Someone told me they are thinking of keeping them going T42 PVM as someone on there facebook page said since arriva as been doing them more and more passengers seem to be using them due to reliability and punctuality being better. |
