TFGM Subsidised Network Review in April 2020 - Mikeonthebuses - 09/01/2020 16:26 Following the release of the Forthcoming bus service changes agenda for the upcoming GMCA meeting on 17th of January 2020, Has revealed some shockers of changes proposed to the subsidised network in April 2020. The areas to receive the worst cuts to services is Oldham and Saddleworth with a lost of a quite few connections and it all to save TFGM money and cut vehicle usage down. Theses are the proposal put forward for Oldham and Saddleworth 151 Mandley Park - Cheetham Hill - N.M.G.H - Moston - Failsworth - Hollinwood - Curtailed Proposed new route N.M.G.H - Moston - Failsworth Tesco 343 | Hyde - Stalybridge - Mossley - Lees - Oldham - Route Change and Curtailment Proposed new route Grotton to Oldham via Cooper Street - Austerlands - Waterhead. Partly replacing the 418 service but no changes to the Sunday Service which will continue via Lees 353/354/355 | Uppermill - Mossley - Heyrod - Ashton/Carrcote - Uppermill - Stalybridge - Ashton - Withdrawn Officers are purposing to withdraw these services and replacing them with a extended 356 service 356 | Greenfield - Uppermill - Denshaw - Route Extended Proposed new route Oldham - Moorside - Denshaw - Diggle - Uppermill - Mossley - Stalybridge - Ashton partially replacing the 407 and 353/354/355 services. 403 | Shaw - High Crompton - Rushcroft Circular - Major Revisions The officers are proposing to revise this service to partly replace the 418 and create it to serve Oldham as Oldham - Shaw - Buckstones - Cowlishaw - Shaw - Oldham serving Royal Oldham Hospital 407 | Oldham - Denshaw - Withdrawn This route is proposed to be withdrawn and partly replaced by a extended 356 service 418 | Oldham - Royal Oldham Hospital - Oldham - Lees Circular - Withdrawn The officers are proposing to withdraw this route. Theses all only proposals at the moment that will drastically affect the already disconnected bus network in and around Oldham. and will no doubt lead to further decline in passenger numbers. I know crafty buggers they are, what do you think about what TFGM are doing with forementioned routes and why does oldham need a second scenic route to ashton RE: TFGM Subsidised Network Review in April 2020 - knutstransport - 09/01/2020 20:12 Suppose what you mean by 'worse cuts'. For instance, under 418 they say "Service 418 currently operates hourly Monday to Saturday daytime. Officers propose the withdrawal of service 418 with the northern section (between Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Royal Oldham Hospital and Oldham covered by revised service 403 and the eastern section (between Lees and Oldham) covered by existing services 84, 180 & 184 and revised service 343. For further details please see notes under services 343 & 403. Very few passengers use service 418 to cross Oldham Town Centre, indeed a recent survey of 15 trips highlighted a total of 2 passengers making use of this facility." If they aren't misleading us then that suggests to me as no journey options will be lost but around 2 passengers in each direction each hour will have to change buses instead of being able to catch a direct bus. On the other hand under 245 Altrincham-Trafford Centre via Flixton and Davyhulme they say "Revised timetable proposed where the Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening journeys are withdrawn due to high cost per passenger following retender" So what happens to those who work at the Trafford Centre in the evenings and rely on getting the bus home? Also worth noting a lot of commercial services are being axed, especially in Wigan and Bolton and in most cases TfGM are saying they will take no action. Unfortunately with both Arriva's loss of tender to the 245, the route change and revert of the 245 and cancellationoof their 18 and ML1 services it is not only disrupted services during the evening but also only helped to transfer customers onto either multi-model or Metrolink tickets if they haven't started driving. RE: TFGM Subsidised Network Review in April 2020 - Mikeonthebuses - 10/01/2020 07:13 I have also noticed a common theme with this publications and proposal is that route being changed is well served by similar route along the proposed route for change but back in the old days that didn't matter because it gave people options and made more journeys for them to use RE: TFGM Subsidised Network Review in April 2020 - EDB325 - 10/01/2020 10:23 It should also be borne in mind as regards the 245 that the Metrolink extension to the Trafford Centre is close to opening, so this will link into numerous other connections. RE: TFGM Subsidised Network Review in April 2020 - SF07 - 13/02/2020 19:50 Some more proposed April 2020 changes for the next meeting on the 21st February. More changes to services in Oldham with the 402 revised to partly replace services 410, 411 and 412 plus some Oldham-Derker journeys on the 81.
